I count 79 releases in about 70 days. Seems like a pretty good rate for this point.

I don't have much idea how many Lost sold on DVD, but that seems like a pretty big release for people beyond forums like this.

Man... that list just showed me a few release dates I hadn't seen for movies I was anticipating... biggest one being For a Few Dollars More... didn't realize it was coming out in January... I hope they come out with Once Upon a Time in the West also on BR... I would friggin love that.

Anyone heard whether/when Open Range might make it to Blu-Ray? Damned great movie & currently playing on one of my HD DirecTV channels this month. I'd love to get this movie if it comes out on BD (and I'm not typically a 'westerns' lover).

I have a 300GB drive here with basically the whole first season of Lost, but I still have never started watching any of them to see if I like the show. Supposedly, they started having more bizarre things happen in the second season, so I stopped recording it. (I remember when Twin Peaks started having "supernatural" stuff in its second season, and I figured if they can do that, then they can have excuses to explain anything that happens without it making sense, and I kind of lost interest at that point.)

When I saw Lost in the store on SD DVD, I thought "What's the point?" since it is an HD show, so it is good to know they are releasing it in HD.

are that many people really going to spend $125-150 retail to buy just one season of Lost...again?

as my friend would say "good luck with that."

Just because HBO prices are that high doesn't mean Lost will be... I'd be stunned if MSRP is over $100.

And yes... You'd be surprised how many people would rebuy a show in HD... Especially one that was made with it in mind.

I am pretty skeptical of all the titles (like Dracula) listed on Dec 31 and January 1. Those are not generally "valid" release dates and they smell a bit too much like placeholder dates. I suppose they MAY be valid, but really those dates don't fit the general pattern. And a number of titles listed with those dates are things that have been repeatedly pushed back/kicked around, which is suspicious.

I agree with you and hope it comes out ASAP.

"Again?" This is the first time this show will be offered the way it was presented on TV networks, ie, in HD. I have not and will not buy a program aired in HD on SD material.

What are we looking at cost-wise for Lost??

If it's over $70 then it is useless.

There's something arguably supernatural in the very first episode of Lost.

I still haven't finished revisiting Lost: Season 1 and I already want the BD version! I demoed the DVD at a store recently and while they were amazed at the quality of it on 30"++ plasmas and LCDs, all I could muster was "Right."

I expect to wow them with the BD version. If only I could afford a PS3 first!

I read somewhere that it was going to be ~$200 which would translate to $125-150 retail. Since 6 million PS3s haven't shipped yet, and they haven't started stamping 10s of millions of games for the format, costs for replication are still high (and higher than the other format) and the breaks haven't kicked in yet. A premium for a multi-discs series is a given anyway, but just for the sake of argument, let's say it's $75-$100 retail. This set was very popular on sd, are that many PS3 owners going to be inclined to pick it up at that price? Bd was supposed to be the format feeding off the largest cross section of consumers- but large cross sections don't pay a premium for TV content that is already available for less than 1/2 the price on the 'good enough' format.

I haven't seen the show (been waiting 'casue I expected it to be an HD release at some point)- however my enthusiasm for finally seeing it is starting to wan because I'm getting the vibe from my friends (who do watch it) that it is pretty much a typical Abrams Teaser show- i.e. great set up and complications from week to week, but never a sense of real resolution. Complicating a situation in interesting ways is easy if you have the luxury of never having to pay it off. But at some point (like in Alias) most people are going to get tired of it and just lose interest.
It's a great premise, but without a point in sight, it's probably a frustrating one too. (I could be way off base here, I'm just going by the reactions and comments I hear from my firends, and my experience with Alias- a show I went nuts over until it was clear that Abrams was simply spinning his wheels without any real destination in mind)

but we'll see.

I don't see some of these titles at www.blu-ray.com/movies

Bram Stoker's Dracula and Lost aren't there on the list I'm looking at.

LOST? Yes yes yes!!! But $200?? No way. The DVD set is $59.99 retail, so the HD version (going by movie titles) should not be more than $10 or $20 more (retail). Hopefully season 2 should not be far behind...

Can't wait! Excellent news! Need more TV series!

TV shows are the one thing that could make me switch or atleast buy a BR. A lot of my favorite shows are from Fox (Buffy, Angel, Prison Break, Arrested Development etc.) and if they release those on BR, then you might have a new owner.

I would think it would be $10 to $20 more per disc.
What is it, about 5 or 6 discs? I would expect at least an extra $70 on top of the $60 msrp.
As I implied before, the other format can afford a slighter premium over the sd version in the case of large sets, but Bd is hog-tied (right now anyway) with (much) higher replication costs. That cost is going to be passed on to the consumer- especially if its a small niche base that is somewhat starved for good content.

I am very excited about getting Lost on Blu-ray. However, since I already own the first season, price is going to be the factor for me. Season Five of Smallville was available on HD-DVD for $50 from Amazon and I didn't upgrade my SD set. I have a feeling that Lost on BR will cost more than that, and if it's $75-100 for it then I would rather put my money towards four new releases instead.

Well that is just a forum and I know he is a Mod and all, but where is the concrete evidence? What is his source? That site looks like it is just a fan run website.

When BV has a press release or something, then I'll believe it.

I'd pay $100 for Season 1 of LOST, but that is the absolute maximum. And I am not a Blue-Ray owner yet. I'm planning on jumping in sometime next Summer and will likely get a PS3 (my first game console since Nintendo).
