Is anyone else having severe pixilization and dropout issues on CBS HD? I have 2 Tivo HD units w/cablecards, and CBSHD is near unwatchable.
This seems to have been going on for at least a couple weeks, and its getting worse. It doesn't seem to happen on any other channel. Edit: sorry, forgot to mention I'm on Comcast.

Is it one or the other, or both? My guide shows 900 and 901 with every program listing as "Local Origination", including April 9th at 7 PM when the Tiger's schedule indicates there should be a game on there.

New stuff that showed up has already been listed, but for completeness: QAM 7-2 is now Retro TV Network QAM 8-1 is Disney HD (though it's not 16:9, forced 4:3 and probably not real HD QAM 8-2 is ABC Family, again listed as HD, but probably not QAM 8-3 is Science HD - says it's at 1080i, but doesn't seem quite HD QAM 100-9 TCT religious programming |

8-1 Disney and 8-2 ABC Family are showing no actual HD content from what I can tell. As someone mentioned, they still look better than the SD versions but they clearly aren't broadcasting HD.
On the other hand, I watched a show on 8-3 Science HD last night that was definitely in HD, but again they have some programming that is lesser quality as well. Some of it looks like it might have even been 4:3 SD material that was chopped into 16:9 format, a la what Discovery frequently does. I don't expect these to stick around for long at all in the clear. My guess is they'll be gone this weekend. It seems Comcast does all of their work rearranging & encrypting channels late on Saturdays or early on Sundays. Maybe a month ago I got NBA Television and USA Network HD in clear QAM, and they lasted almost exactly one week before going poof. |

It's time to give props to WLNS for the HD crawl generator!!! Now we need WHTV to go HD and Lansing's CW to get a separate transmitter so it isn't a digital sub. |

Hi folks, new to the board. I noticed that new RTN7 on my
Comcast system and started searching to see just what an RTN was. I came across this site and found out and decided to join up. I also noticed the new HD channels, Disney, Science, ABC Family and, AMC. They all look pretty good so far. On the RTN7, they've been showing current programming, All My Children. I'm hoping to see, something a little less current. Shows like the ones some you mentioned above. |

WXYZ adding RTN as a sub-channel is a very bad thing as they are now molesting the main HD signal during prime time shows (since RTN has content 24/7).
RTN is a parasite sub-channel only taking away bitrate from the real channel for what-20 to 40 year old overcompressed tv series which if I were going to watch would much rather rent on DVD with 8mbps bitrate, not 3! Someone please sabotage the RTN IRD during prime time hours. Thank You |

That's like arguing how many angels fit on the head of a pin. The prime channel HD looks fine. The new sub-channel looks great, not overcompressed at all. At least it does OTA. You don't like it? Don't watch it. The rest of us will enjoy it... ![]() |

You're in the wrong forum. This is an HDTV forum. All of us here care about bits not allocated to the main HD channel.

I ask this because I'm torn between being a hard-core HD devotee (which I'm not quite there) and also getting the biggest selection of content for the least amount of money (the stingy side of me). So, I actually like RTN and haven't noticed a degredation to 7-1, which didn't seem to broadcast much in HD to begin with before RTN came on-line. Am I right or wrong about that? I honestly don't know. Also - any help pointing to a general digital TV lineup discussion for Detroit? |

In general, we don't discourage limited discussion of the standard digital channels, but HD is the primary focus.
