The 831 adds the same things the 732 add plus the 180W bulb. 180w seems like overkill to me since i found i like the 150W bulb best when toning it down to "natural" setting anyway. The 831 also adds the high contrast screen though i don't know much about it and its benefits. Forgot to mention previously that both the 732 and 831 also add a 3rd component video input.

I totally agree with 180w might be too much. I have had the 65731 here for about a week doing many tests and tweaks and I find it to be bright enough.
This set is fantastic. I'm also debating whether to exchange it for the 732 or not. I have not found any problems with blacks at all. They are very black indeed. I've also watched dvd movies that seem to have dark scenes and it looks fine. Maybe it's because of my existing toned down settings. Contrast has also not been an issue, as a matter of fact I toned that down as well. Watching Jay Leno in HD was simply amazing. Check out the detail in the colorful buildings in the background. There are so many distinct colors there, no bleeding, and great contrast. I'm not sure what dark detailer would do, but I do notice that very dark scenes you might find some mosquito noise or grainy in the dark areas which improves if you activate video noise to low or medium. If the 732 fixed this then I would not hesitate to get the 732, and in my opinion the 731 is probably the best set I have seen bigger than 60" in all aspects. Circuit City did have the dark detailer listed in the specs earlier, but it's since been removed. The manual doesn't say one way or another, just that the Y65 doesn't have the DeepField Imager (but seems to imply when the DF Imager is off the contrast of the full scene is adjusted). I suspect that these sets are somehow between the 731s and 732s, but the Net Command is the only difference I'm positive of. As I said, the manual is also for the 732 models. Am I correct in assuming that the manual supplied with the 731 does not also cover the 732s? One more thing, not all the CC models are in the "Y-series", their 52" set is a 52631. -RW |

Ok guys, I tried to summarize all the hot TVs we are looking at with a section covering the Mits's:
http://www.breakitdownblog.com/2006/...x732-hp-xx80n/ I want to make sure that (a) I got all the details right about the Mitsubishi as well as pros and (b) want to make sure that I got the differences correct between the models. If you see something glaring please let me know and I'll fix it. |

My Big Screen Store sales rep just said over the phone he didn't have a date for the 57732 at all, but "late august" for the 831, so he imagined it would be around the same date for 732.

My remote on the 65731 works fine. My dealer is letting me swap out the 731 for the 732. No definitive word on when it will be in stock. I swear, you call 10 different stores that are authorized dealers and you'll get 10 different answers on shipping time frame. Oh well. NFL weekend kicks off Sept. 7th. As long as I have my set by then I'll be happy.

I've posted my details since I joined back in Oct of 2005. I have a limited post history, because normally I'd rather read what is said here, than to comment on it. But when someone "disses" my colleagues, I have to speak up. As they clearly are clueless as to what the truth is!! In comparison, you are the new member with the more recent join date, so who looks more like the troll here? Post a few details dude, don't be shy. Stand up and say who you are, if you are in fact real, and un-trollish! hehehehe ![]() |

As for the your top choice of the best display this year, you have some how also selected my best choice . Two important PQ details are left off the 732 description. See my 732 thread on page two for a description. Lastly umr who you only sometimes quote detests the entire Mits line based upon legacy products. We shall soon see who... |
